Ned's collapsed lung

Ned was rushed to Crosshouse hospital on Tuesday night [13/08/02]

When the doctor told him that his lung had collapsed Ned claims to have said; "That's a relief: I thought I was having a heart attack!"

18/08/02:

The doctors are being very carefull about what they are saying with regard to the healing process. All things being square, Ned should make a full recovery and be able to sing every bit as well (??) as he ever could ... but they are not saying whether it will be a week or a month ... time will tell [Jah would never give the power to a bald head]

Ned had his 'drain' removed this morning and, after a few hours in the X-ray dept., was discharged mid-afternoon. The lung has almost entirely reinflated naturaly without any medical intervention - though Ned did say something about one of the nurses offering to flate him .... at least I think that's what he said. ....em ... anyway:

He's on light duties for the next month and then he should be as right as rain - whatever that means.

Ned was over for a visit the other day and had a wee go at singing. It was not a huge success. He could sing, but, was finding it much harder work (phisicaly) than he was expecting - singing along to CDs or in the shower is fine but changing up a gear to give a performance is a wee bit beyond him at the moment. He spent more time playing the drums than he did singing..... but: he is getting there.

A lot more confident now. We'll hopfully have a full on rehersal next weekend.

06/10/02

Ned put in a full(ish) 2 1/2 hour rehersal session today with out too many problems. One or two of the higher notes were a little beyond him but that's mainly down to a lack of practice rather than any underlying problem with his lung. We're going to have another try next Sunday and Ned is going to take the precaution of adjusting the snugness of his underware .... em ... not his vest ..... in an attempt to reach those elusive notes.
